ANTENNA AND WAVE PROPAGATION (B.Tech 5th Semester,2052)

NOTE:- This paper consist of Three Sections. Section A is compulsory. Do any Four questions from
Section B and any two questions from Section C

Section-A Marks : 20

1(a) What is an oscillating electric dipole ?
(b) Explain Far Field approximation to antenna field pattern.
(c) What is two element array ?
(d) What is antenna impedence ?
(e) Explain directivity and resolution.
(f) What is continuous aperture distribution ?
(g) Explain the surface waves.
(h) What is plane earth reflection ?
(i) What are regular variations in ionospheric waves ?
(j) What is skip distance ?

Section-B Marks:5 Each

2. Explain radiation from a dipole.
3. Explain the noise temperature of an antenna.
4. Explain the radiation through a conduction screen.
5. Explain Broad Side Arrays. Write down expression for its far field.
6. What is Duct Propagation ?

Section-C Marks : 10 Each

7. Obtain an expression for input impedence of an antenna using transmission line analogy.
8. Obatin the expression for space wave pattern for the horizontal dipole and draw the vertical radiation pattern.
9. Expalin the experimental method to determine critical frequency and virtual hieght. Obtain expressions for maximum usable frequency and the skip distance.
