Accenture Placement Paper kolkata february 23

ACCENTURE PAPER ON 23rd FEBRUARY AT KOLKATA

Let me tell you important things to be prepared for the latest february 23rd 2008 Accenture placement paper.

It has 4 rounds:
1) Aptitude Test along with essay writing
2) GROUP DISCUSSION
3) TECHNICAL / HR Interview
4) HR / TECHNICAL INTERVEW.

1)APTITUDE TEST:
Questions = 55 ; Time limit provided is 60 minutes. Along with that an essay to write in the same sheet in another 10 minutes.
There is no sectional cut off , no negative marking.

The question paper is easy. Just RS Aggarwal is sufficient for the paper.

The Aptitude test paper is divided into 3 sections:
1st section : It consists of 20 questions which are completely based on english language.
Questions 1 - 10 : These are very easy. These are completely based on prepositions and fill in the blanks with correct articles. This pattern is just like other accenture (IT Companies) placement papers.

Questions 11 - 20 :
questions 11 - 15 contains one comprehension followed by another comprehension from questions 16 - 20

Do not read the whole paragraph. Just do skimming. (Study the reading techniques. You did it in Communication skills subject in B.tech any engineering brach)

2nd section : It consists of 20 questions which is based on quantitative questions as well as verbal and non verbal questions.
It contains questions from data sufficiency, venn diagrams ,time and work, percentage, time and distance, directions, blood relations and the most important topic LOGIC (syllogism) which is the first chapter of the second part of R.S.AGGARWAL (verbal & non-verbal

3rd section : It consists of 15 questions which is very easy, only the placement paper's puzzle questions are a bit difficult. But these are just like other placement paper puzzles questions. You can see solved Infosys, Wipro, TCS, Accenture puzzle questions.

Q.41- Q.45 Mark the answers according to the following:
A- If all the three options match
B- If FIRST and SECOND options match
C- If FIRST and THIRD options match
D- If none of the three match

Example:
KKTUJNGDFTSR KKTUJHGDFTSR KKTUJNGDFTSR
Ans: C

Another example:
1896.5738491023 1896.5783491023 1896.5738461023
Ans: D

Q.46-Q.49 were based on the Puzzle-type question

Following was the criteria decided by the selection committee of Indian Cricket Board:
1) Player's age should be 18-28 years.
2) He must be the captain of any cricket team for at least 2 years.
3) He must be a Ranji Player for at least 2 years.
4) He must have taken at least 20 wickets or made 1000 runs in a calendar year in Ranji.

If 1st condition is not fulfilled. Referred to chairman
If 2nd condition is not fulfilled. He must be an all rounder with at least 500 runs and 15 wickets
If 4th condition is not fulfilled. Referred to VP

Questions were like the following example:
Rahul was born on Dec.1978 and is a captain of Ranji team since May 2006. He won man of the tournament last year for taking 24 wickets last year. He is:
a) Selected b) Rejected c) Referred to Chairman d)Data Insufficient
Ans: a

Q.50- Q.55 were quite easy:
Example of type 1:
If * means +, + means -, - means / and / means *, then what is the value of-
8+4-9*7/12+3

Example of type 2:
If * means /, / means -, - means + and + means *, then which of the following is true:
a) 7+43*2/13-7+8 = 22.6 b) 4-9*7/4*2/3-7+2 = 25 .. ..

(These are easy but can be time consuming if u did not practise these questions from RS Aggarwal)

For accenture emphasize more on verbal and non verbal rather than quantitative.

VERBAL AND NON-VERBAL Questions for Accenture Placement Paper:
1) LOGIC (syllogism).
2) DATA SUFFICIENCY.
3) LOGIACL VENN DIAGRAM.
4) DIRECTION SENSE TEST.
5) BLOOD RELATIONS.
6) PUZZLE TEST.

QUANTITATIVE Ability Questions topics for Placement Papers:
1) TIME AND WORK.
2) TIME AND DISTANCE.
3) RATIO AND PROPORTION.
4) PERCENTAGE.
5) PROBLEMS ON TRAINS.
6) BOATS AND STREAMS.
7) PIPES AND CISTERNS.
8) PROFIT AND LOSS.

I think about 70% are from verbal & non verbal and 30% are from quantitative in comparision to these two.

After the completion of 60 minutes we were asked to write an essay in 10 minutes time and word limit was atleast 100 words and the topic was "US recession and its impact in the IT industry" There is nothing to worry about this essay. Just have few key points and it should be grammatically correct. It is rarely checked by the HR during the HR interview.

2) ACCENTURE GROUP DISCUSSION :
The topic was "liberalisation" Time limit was 10 minutes. 5 out of 12 were selected. They try to give time to everyone to speak clockwise. The group discussion round as discussed in other accenture placement papers here is not much difficult.

3) ACCENTURE HR INTERVIEW :
Questions were like: Tell me about yourself. What do you do in your leisure time. How can you prove that you have managerial skills. You have to be confident during your interview, have a smile on your face, maintain your eye contact with the HR.
HR interview guide for you is here.

4) TECHNICAL INTERVIEW :
What are your favourite subjects. Gave me a program and asked whether this program will run or not. Then he told me that i am giving you 16 seconds. You have to sell yourself. ( How to sell urself: you have to be innovative in that. You cant repeat other persons's answer. You should show your confidence in yourself with good communication skills, Any reason which shows your appeal may be strengths, Your teamwork ability, Consistent work, etc.) Good self confidence and communication skills coupled with your skills are what you should tell when such a question is asked. Then he gave situation reaction test.

In situation reaction test they just want to see how good you are as a leader as well as a team member and how hard working , determined and confident you are.

Statistics: 899 total students appeared, 266 - aptitude round, 115 gd round, 41 shortlisted after technical , hr round. I am one of them.

Good luck to you. See our more detailed accenture placement papers. Prepare well, work hard and believe in yourself. Be genuine and polite. I wish you clear your test. Best of luck again.

GROUP DISCUSSION:
It was believed that group discussion or gd round is the toughest of all the rounds but i was not much tough really. The interviewers were
nice guys. The topic for the group discussion was Reservation. Yes, reservation should be there but not on the basis of religion or caste, it must be on the basis of economic condition. Just dont be too much aggressive. Be cooperative and show team work ability. Good communication skills are important of course.

Other group discussion topics for Accenture Placement Paper: BRAIN-DRAIN, WOMEN EMPOWERMENT, IMPORTANCE OF END, ROLE OF MEDIA. See the Group Discussion complete Guide

The girls are first interviewed in the HR or technical interviews. Their test is finished mostly before much darkness.

TECHNICAL:
The man was of abt 40 - 45 years age.
Tech: Tell me about yourself
me: Told my present status , form were did i pass 10th & 12th, my Hobbies, My strengths
tech: Give an instance of your strength.
me: Prepare it in advance.
tech: What is networking?
me: Told
tech: How it is implemented..?
By the OSI model and all that.
tech: What will happen if there is no application layer.
me: No idea.

tech: What do you find most difficult in programming ?
me: LINUX

Whats the difference between DOS and LINUX.. What is Multithreading, Multitasking , How is kernel important, How it works?
tech: How do you rate yourself in C language?

tech: what are different types of sortings. Which is the best one?

me: No idea.

tech : ok Do you have any questions?

HR:
The interviewer was a smart lady of age about 25 - 30 years.

HR: (After hand shake, smiling) How r u..??

HR: Why too fine?
HR: Because i have made it to the HR Interview.

Me: Tell that China is the leader in hardware manufacturing and India is growing fast in Information technology. There is great scope for synergies between the two. (If u want to be in favour of India-China relationship)

If u want to be against, then say that India should not try to help china in its IT Information technology initiatives rather learn try to learn from its hardware manufacturing expertise. Chinese imports are killing indian industry. Indian companies should stop opening training centres for english, IT, software in china. We should never teach our competitors. CHINA will never do this! In fact they are our rivals, they claim our land and organise infiltrations sometimes as shown on TV. So i am totally against any assistance or preference provided by india to china.

Did not get Formal Appointment Letter from company?

What to do in such a situation? Let me try to help you.
If u got placed in An interview of a reputed IT or software, etc multinational and did not recieve the appointment letter or reply yet, you may consider taking one of the following steps.First of all the steps would depend on whether you got placed in college or in walkin interview. If u got placed in college placement, then there is no need to worry. All companies will honour college placements. If they dont, simply send them an email threatening to submit the news to a leading newspaper or trying them in court for compensation. You may consider submitting the Company's bad habits of not appointing you or sending formal appointment article to a leading newspaper or news channel. This will surely help you one way or the other. ( These are the views of some students who really threatened to do it and successfully persuaded the company to instate them in the promised job position. )Otherwise you may go to a company campus anywhere in india and ask them in person. You may be informed by the database. The employee and freshers database is accessible by the Managers at the company and you will be told about your position. Otherwise you can also try them in court if they turn you down in an unlawful manner. The labour laws are quite strong. You may also consider contacting the labour commissioner or the concerned government official. If the case if of the college placement, then u can contact the principal ( in person or go along with college union's leader )and ask him politely to get your case sorted by initiating communication with the company. This will surely help.Mostly the sue cases dont go long as the company will not think of losing it image of being an employer friendly company. The simplest way is of course to use the "Contact us" link from the company's website. So good luck and dont worry.

Perot Systems mumbai placement paper

Perot Systems Placement Paper Selection process:-
Aptitude test 100 marks 45 minutes

English - 25 marks and time alloted is 20 minutes

Technical Interview ( 2 interviewers )

HR interview ( 3 interviewers )

Aptitude test:-

20 questions 1 marks

15 questions 2 marks

10 questions 5 marks
1 marks questions - Complete the series kind of questions

2 marks questions were tough rather time consuming. It was based on time & work, train, water stream and age problem.

5 marks question were based on c language. Flow chart & programs were given. You have to find output. It is again time consuming.

Advice:- Start solving 5 marks questions first. R.S. Aggarwal is enough for the placement paper questions like reasoning questions, aptitude, verbal, etc. for perot systems. Even for puzzles asked in the technical or hr interview.

English test:-
Its quite easy. Fill in the blanks mulitple choice questions. Just little practise is required for these.

32 candidates out of 680 cleared it.

Technical Interview:- It was brain teasing and difficult too. Have your subject basics clear. I would suggest that you prepare one relevant subject before the interview. Average time taken is around 45 minutes for each candidate.

C and C++ Programming interview questions asked :- What are structures in C? What is OOP in C++? Inheritance in C or C++? Construction & explanation of JFET, CMOS, MOSFET etc ? All these are basic questions and many are repeated. Some candidates were asked to write some basic c language programs. Others were asked logical puzzles and electronics circuit diagrams.

13 candidates out of 32 selected for HR round.

HR interview:- Its tiring. 3 people were interviewing around 45 minutes each candidate. Some HR Interview Questions asked were: Tell me something about yourself ? why IT ? why can’t u achieve same things in Electronics or Mechanical ? why did you leave your previous employment ? Given a chance will u work for them again? If not then why? If same profile is in IT how will u survive? Why should we hire you? What does it mean by Professionalism ? Tell me about your hobbies.

C Sharp CSHarp C# Technical Tech Interview Questions for placement papers of leading companies.

  1. What’s the advantage of using System.Text.StringBuilder over System.String? StringBuilder is more efficient in the cases, where a lot of manipulation is done to the text. Strings are immutable, so each time it’s being operated on, a new instance is created.

  2. Can you store multiple data types in System.Array? No.

  3. What’s the difference between the System.Array.CopyTo() and System.Array.Clone()? The first one performs a deep copy of the array, the second one is shallow.

  4. How can you sort the elements of the array in descending order? By calling Sort() and then Reverse() methods.

  5. What’s the .NET datatype that allows the retrieval of data by a unique key? HashTable.

  6. What’s class SortedList underneath? A sorted HashTable.

  7. Will finally block get executed if the exception had not occurred? Yes.

  8. What’s the C# equivalent of C++ catch (…), which was a catch-all statement for any possible exception? A catch block that catches the exception of type System.Exception. You can also omit the parameter data type in this case and just write catch {}.

  9. Can multiple catch blocks be executed? No, once the proper catch code fires off, the control is transferred to the finally block (if there are any), and then whatever follows the finally block.

  10. Why is it a bad idea to throw your own exceptions? Well, if at that point you know that an error has occurred, then why not write the proper code to handle that error instead of passing a new Exception object to the catch block? Throwing your own exceptions signifies some design flaws in the project.

  11. What’s a delegate? A delegate object encapsulates a reference to a method. In C++ they were referred to as function pointers.

  12. What’s a multicast delegate? It’s a delegate that points to and eventually fires off several methods.

  13. How’s the DLL Hell problem solved in .NET? Assembly versioning allows the application to specify not only the library it needs to run (which was available under Win32), but also the version of the assembly.

  14. What are the ways to deploy an assembly? An MSI installer, a CAB archive, and XCOPY command.

  15. What’s a satellite assembly? When you write a multilingual or multi-cultural application in .NET, and want to distribute the core application separately from the localized modules, the localized assemblies that modify the core application are called satellite assemblies.

  16. What namespaces are necessary to create a localized application? System.Globalization, System.Resources.

  17. What’s the difference between // comments, /* */ comments and /// comments? Single-line, multi-line and XML documentation comments.

  18. How do you generate documentation from the C# file commented properly with a command-line compiler? Compile it with a /doc switch.

  19. What’s the difference between and XML documentation tag? Single line code example and multiple-line code example.

  20. Is XML case-sensitive? Yes, so and are different elements.

  21. What debugging tools come with the .NET SDK? CorDBG – command-line debugger, and DbgCLR – graphic debugger. Visual Studio .NET uses the DbgCLR. To use CorDbg, you must compile the original C# file using the /debug switch.

  22. What does the This window show in the debugger? It points to the object that’s pointed to by this reference. Object’s instance data is shown.

  23. What does assert() do? In debug compilation, assert takes in a Boolean condition as a parameter, and shows the error dialog if the condition is false. The program proceeds without any interruption if the condition is true.

  24. What’s the difference between the Debug class and Trace class? Documentation looks the same. Use Debug class for debug builds, use Trace class for both debug and release builds.

  25. Why are there five tracing levels in System.Diagnostics.TraceSwitcher? The tracing dumps can be quite verbose and for some applications that are constantly running you run the risk of overloading the machine and the hard drive there. Five levels range from None to Verbose, allowing to fine-tune the tracing activities.

  26. Where is the output of TextWriterTraceListener redirected? To the Console or a text file depending on the parameter passed to the constructor.

  27. How do you debug an ASP.NET Web application? Attach the aspnet_wp.exe process to the DbgClr debugger.

  28. What are three test cases you should go through in unit testing? Positive test cases (correct data, correct output), negative test cases (broken or missing data, proper handling), exception test cases (exceptions are thrown and caught properly).

  29. Can you change the value of a variable while debugging a C# application? Yes, if you are debugging via Visual Studio.NET, just go to Immediate window.

  30. Explain the three services model (three-tier application). Presentation (UI), business (logic and underlying code) and data (from storage or other sources).

  31. What are advantages and disadvantages of Microsoft-provided data provider classes in ADO.NET? SQLServer.NET data provider is high-speed and robust, but requires SQL Server license purchased from Microsoft. OLE-DB.NET is universal for accessing other sources, like Oracle, DB2, Microsoft Access and Informix, but it’s a .NET layer on top of OLE layer, so not the fastest thing in the world. ODBC.NET is a deprecated layer provided for backward compatibility to ODBC engines.

  32. What’s the role of the DataReader class in ADO.NET connections? It returns a read-only dataset from the data source when the command is executed.

  33. What is the wildcard character in SQL? Let’s say you want to query database with LIKE for all employees whose name starts with La. The wildcard character is %, the proper query with LIKE would involve ‘La%’.

  34. Explain ACID rule of thumb for transactions. Transaction must be Atomic (it is one unit of work and does not dependent on previous and following transactions), Consistent (data is either committed or roll back, no “in-between” case where something has been updated and something hasn’t), Isolated (no transaction sees the intermediate results of the current transaction), Durable (the values persist if the data had been committed even if the system crashes right after).

  35. What connections does Microsoft SQL Server support? Windows Authentication (via Active Directory) and SQL Server authentication (via Microsoft SQL Server username and passwords).

  36. Which one is trusted and which one is untrusted? Windows Authentication is trusted because the username and password are checked with the Active Directory, the SQL Server authentication is untrusted, since SQL Server is the only verifier participating in the transaction.

  37. Why would you use untrusted verificaion? Web Services might use it, as well as non-Windows applications.

  38. What does the parameter Initial Catalog define inside Connection String? The database name to connect to.

  39. What’s the data provider name to connect to Access database? Microsoft.Access.

  40. What does Dispose method do with the connection object? Deletes it from the memory.

  41. What is a pre-requisite for connection pooling? Multiple processes must agree that they will share the same connection, where every parameter is the same, including the security settings.
